Formed by Mark De Vattimo (ex Voyager, Maverick, Furor, Pathogen and winner of the ‘WF Metal Awards Best Guitarist’ 2007 & 2009 and ‘WAMi Best Guitarist Nominee’ 2005) in Perth, Australia circa 1997.
PSYCHONAUT is one of West. Australia’s longest running fan favorite heavy metal bands with 25+ neck breaking years. Its music is rooted in 80’s Heavy Metal culture with lyrical content based on classic horror and sci-fi films as well as heavy metal culture references. Psychonaut cites influences such as Mercyful Fate, Loudness, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Type O Negative, W.A.S.P. & Slayer.
Over the years, the band has shared stages with international bands such as Dream Evil, Enforcer, Exodus, Armored Saint, Ace Frehley, Death Angel, Anvil, Venom Inc. Blaze Bayley, Paul DiAnno, Finntroll and Hellyeah as well as supreme Aussie metal bands Lord, Desecrator, Frankenbok and of course ex band mates, Voyager in 2023.
Psychonaut has headlined the day session at the 2013 Rock-In-Solo Festival in Indonesia.
